I got the new Nylon magazine and it is all about Los Angeles and California fashion. They are highlighting some really great new designers including one of my personal favorites Augustine. I liked this coat however from a new label called Leyendecker.
Alberta is best when her garments are light and monochromatic. The occasional print never did anyone harm, but overall her bold color palette is what really held my attention. I also loved the light streaming in overhead and illuminating the models. They just looked soooo comfortable in her clothes.
I am not a Gucci girl, even in the days of Tom Ford. The whole look never appealed to me, but I have to say there is something about the Spring 2007 collection that makes me smile. I don't think the presentation (mirroed floors, blaring lights) reflected the innocence and lightness of the garments. I think it distracted from the overall presentation. AND isn't runway all about the style and presentation?
Thank you, Ms. Juniper Designs for introducing me to this great new artist. I love how Stina's girls seem to bleed into the background of her pictures. Her lines are erratic and organic creating beauty with minimal effort. I can't stand how much emotion is expressed in each girls' tiny pout and hypontic stare. I don't know who Stina Persson is, but her passion for art and fashion must run deep.
I thought the "big belt" trend has really exhausted itself...I was really ready to pack all of them away until I saw the new Marni collection. Suddenly something has been changed in my brain and I am seeing them in a whole new light...so fresh and new!
When the outfits were subdued Etro showed some gorgeous prints and great shapes. Though at times I was overwhelmed by the selection and bored with the redundancy. I could have done with out the asymmetrical grommet vests.
This collection is one of the only outstanding presentations I have seen at Milan Fashion week thus far. I loved every bit of these papery dresses, sublime details, and soft drapery. If I was a peasent in the hills of France I would hope I looked like one of these ladies.
