Two things this series reminded me of, both (oddly) involving my grandmother:
1. When she was a girl she had a pet lamb (named Namby Baa) which was allowed inside the house. The family's many cats were not.
2. She had an uncle who found a lone bear cub in the woods and brought it home to raise. We have photos of my grandma and her siblings posing with a very real and very large (though not full size) bear.
