I've been lusting after this six-CD set for years. Ethnomusicologist Harry Smith originally assembled this collection of folk, blues, country, Cajun and "Appalachian murder ballads" from obscure 78's originally released between 1927 to 1935. The Smithsonian rereleased his monumental assemblage on its fiftieth anniversary in 2002. Want!
I grew up shooting with my parents' Canon A1. All of the photos from my childhood were shot with this classic SLR (as well as my senior portraits and a few dreamy faux-fashion editorials at the local cemetery). Now I want one for my very own.
I have had the good fortune recently of getting to know Lisa and gradually realized that we were connected in more ways then one. It is bizarre when you meet someone and start to find out that you know all the same people even when you didn't think it was possible. Check out her blog, One Hot Child in the City
