I am the luckest girl ever! I just received these amazing gifts from Wendy for participating in her word challenge. Everyone knows I just love Ashley's work and was SO happy when Wendy sent me one of her prints along with numerous other things. Check it out!!  P1010012

Stiff as a board

I woke up this morning stiff and cranky. A pain in my hip half way through  my walk Picture_062_2to work and I feel into a terrible listless sleep on the bus ride into the city. I feel like a mess. I am hoping the day progresses better then it started.

Other Swap-o-Rama news:

Picture_069 I received some lovely packages this week from my swap buddies who were so nice to me this go around. The "piece of clothing" swap featured a lovely shimmery black scarf from Paris. Lately I have been a fiend for scarves especially think chunky ones, but as the summer approaches I need something lighter. Picture_067This one might be just  perfect. It also arrived in the best package with a little man playing a horn. Amazing Package.

Picture_064_1The other highlight was truly a gift from my "Note Book" swap buddy. She  decorated this great little book with inspirational quotes, pictures, and envelopes for me to fill in. I loved searching through it and I greatly appreciate the effort that she put into this swap. It means a lot whenPicture_066 people put out the effort for a complete stranger. I think it definitely says something about the person's character.

I hope this weekend proves to be cheerful, fun, and all together enthralling. I am plannPicture_065ing a big outing this evening with my friends to the Lower East Side. We are searching for the best free party and I am already thinking of what outfit I want to wear. The day just can't seem to go fast enough. I am also planning on crafting and movie watching at some point in the next three days when I am not sleeping and being a vegetable.

FRIDAY ART:

Tape Yarn

Picture_048 I signed up for a lot of swaps recently and I guess I thought it was going to be better then what it was. Monday I received this in the mail and really have no idea why I would have gotten a pincushion and some thimbles in a box from Canada. I really don't remember ordering anything or even swapping for notions. It is lovely, but was I supposed to send something that I didn't??

Last night was the speed dating experience that I dreaded the whole day. Although it wasn't terrible (partly because of the shots and beer that were consumed) there really wasn't any big connections with people. I met one person named Mauro who said if he were a vegetable he would be a Kumquat...I thought it was a suitable answer to that type of question. It was actually quite delightful. I gave him my phone number, but on the walk to work today I realize I have no real interest in this person. When I want to meet someone I want it to be random, not planned, completely not speed dating. I am glad I had this experience and have some minor stories to tell, but I am definitely not going to be one of those success stories that they proudly display on their website.

Get_jpg_detail_image I bought an amazing print from Ashley G through etsy. I am so excited for it's arrival. It will amazing on my desk or on the wall next to my other prints that I have found. I think her work is very simple and sweet without being too cutesy. I had seen her work floating around other peoples' blogs and thought it would be cool to own one. Although I love my Beardsley's prints, it is nice to own something original and to support a fellow artist. Which is kind of what people are doing with these blogs through their feedback.

The weekend ahead

I was debating taking a personal day today, but alas I came in and here I am with the other three people in my office who also decided to make the brave journey. I am actually getting quite a lot done right now, I feel extremely productive.

The other day I was fortunate enough to come up to this sitting on my bed, this wonderful little bundle of joy! Shannon is amazing and she provided me with the most amazing little goodie box full of treats. These included: hand drawings(feature below), crafty supplies, two magazines, and a heap load of other things that made me jump up and down and smile a lot! This whole new idea of swapping gives me a reason to run past the last few houses before getting home from work. Tape and brown packing paper have become my new materials of choice. I feel like something has been reborn inside me; the Post office once a dreaded place, now has become a new haven! Who knew all of this could happen.

Tonight is my friend Carrie's Birthday and we are planning on going to Happy Endings on Broome st for Hush Hush weekender to dance and be merry. I am hoping as well as my friend Jen that we will consume Broome doggs after the event and be filled with some tasty goodness. My friend Jen has a great love of Hot Dogs and her birthday present this year was Hot Dog themed. Check out this sign!

Here is my package to Shannon, what could be inside?!?!
