I signed up for a lot of swaps recently and I guess I thought it was going to be better then what it was. Monday I received this in the mail and really have no idea why I would have gotten a pincushion and some thimbles in a box from Canada. I really don't remember ordering anything or even swapping for notions. It is lovely, but was I supposed to send something that I didn't??
Last night was the speed dating experience that I dreaded the whole day. Although it wasn't terrible (partly because of the shots and beer that were consumed) there really wasn't any big connections with people. I met one person named Mauro who said if he were a vegetable he would be a Kumquat...I thought it was a suitable answer to that type of question. It was actually quite delightful. I gave him my phone number, but on the walk to work today I realize I have no real interest in this person. When I want to meet someone I want it to be random, not planned, completely not speed dating. I am glad I had this experience and have some minor stories to tell, but I am definitely not going to be one of those success stories that they proudly display on their website.
I bought an amazing print from Ashley G through etsy. I am so excited for it's arrival. It will amazing on my desk or on the wall next to my other prints that I have found. I think her work is very simple and sweet without being too cutesy. I had seen her work floating around other peoples' blogs and thought it would be cool to own one. Although I love my Beardsley's prints, it is nice to own something original and to support a fellow artist. Which is kind of what people are doing with these blogs through their feedback.
A pincushion from Canada and Mauro the kumquat! What a great post...I do love hearing about peoples dating stories always makes for a good laugh.

How strange to get a swap you didn't expect, maybe it's from a secret blog-mirer! I'm still waiting for my yellow postcard swap that I did in April. I know that he woman I swapped with got hers but nothing has come for me yet. My 1st negative swap experience, the rest have been amazing and I think the odds are in favour of good things happening.
