I can't wait to see Fashion Week newcomer, Elise Overland's collection, this year in New York. It was so hard for me to pick just a few photographs to show because I love both her mix of fabrics and texture.
I just love this image from the up and coming show at the Chelsea Art museum called Dangerous Beauty. I will definitely have to go check this out in light of all the issues regarding underweight models and Fashion week. Apparently you have to walk across these scales to get into the art exhibition. Thank god new and exciting political art! I was tired of the same old topics being replayed over and over again.
Tanyth Berkeley was also apart of that article in Jane and I just couldn't help, but post some her disturbing portraits. Her images are always so intimate and the subjects seem so comfortable in front Berkeley's lens. I tried to pick ones that were a little easier on the eyes.
In my opinion the house of Givenchy embodies what couture is all about and this Spring/ Summer did not disappoint . We all love the extravagance of Mr. Galliano, but I think Riccardo Tisci shows such skill and restraint that goes way beyond his years. Congratulations Riccardo for making a shockingly beautiful yellow dress that would make any girl swoon!
I was a little disappointed by Valentino's collection this year. I guess I am spoiled because the other couture collections were so strong this year from the likes of Lacroix and Galliano. I do love this coat though!
I think we are all hungry for some new Fall Fashion. The couture collections seem like a breath of fresh air before Fashion February unfolds and look Gaultier got Dita von Teese to strut herself down the catwalk as well!
Fashion week is almost here and the Bryant Park tents are beginning to be set up! Excitement is brewing....but now for some more couture from Christian Dior (well that kind of rhymes!)
I love these looks from the Spring Couture collection from Christian Lacroix. He ALWAYS seems to show something playful and fresh, which I think is something we all need nowadays in these winter months. I am debating how to work that orange ruffle dress into my wardrobe!
